How to Check Packaging Specifications and Carton Details
Compare dimensions, capacity, lid fit, pack counts and carton measurements before confirming a packaging order.
Two offers with the same product name may describe different sizes or packing units. Compare the item and the carton separately before comparing the total price.
Copy these fields into your product comparison
Use a separate copy for each proposed model. The blank fields below are a purchasing worksheet, not an EcoServePack specification sheet. Enter confirmed values with units and the source document; mark missing information as “awaiting confirmation”.
Paper cups and lids
Start with double wall paper cups and record the cup and lid as separate items.
- Cup SKU / specification revision: ______
- Cup material, lining and wall construction: ______
- Top diameter / bottom diameter / height, with units: ______
- Listed capacity / measurement method / intended fill: ______
- Lid SKU / material / drawing revision: ______
- Confirmed cup–lid pairing / supplier confirmation reference: ______
- Sample fit check / drink and serving conditions / result: ______
- Price includes cup, lid or both: ______
Do not approve a lid solely because its stated diameter matches the cup. Keep the pairing confirmation and sample check with the quote.
Bagasse hinged food containers
For bagasse hinged containers, separate the footprint from the space available for the meal.
- Container SKU / material / drawing revision: ______
- Outer length × width × height / open or closed state: ______
- Usable internal length × width × depth / compartment layout: ______
- Available internal height with lid closed / required clearance above food: ______
- Intended meal / portion / sample closure result: ______
- Hinge and fastening checks / result after handling: ______
Use the intended meal in the sample check. Record whether food obstructs the closure or touches the lid where clearance is required.
Sushi trays and separate lids
For sushi trays and lids, compare the base and lid together without treating the tray depth as the total closed height.
- Tray SKU / material / usable internal length × width × depth: ______
- Lid SKU / material / confirmed tray–lid pairing: ______
- Assembled outer dimensions / available internal height when closed: ______
- Portion layout / food height / required clearance above food: ______
- Closure and handling check with the intended contents / result: ______
- Quoted unit is tray, lid or set / contents of a set: ______
Packing details for every model
Complete this record separately for the base and lid when they ship in different cartons.
- Product SKU / packing unit (piece or defined set): ______
- Pieces or sets per inner pack / inner packs per carton / total per carton: ______
- Outer-carton length × width × height, with units / gross weight: ______
- Order quantity / carton count / pallet packing, if applicable: ______
- Quote reference / specification revision / outstanding confirmations: ______
Copy the completed fields into your quotation request. If a value is unknown, describe the requirement and request confirmation instead of selecting a value from a product-family range.
Check what the dimensions describe
Record the unit and measurement points. For a container, distinguish outer dimensions from the usable internal space; for a round cup, record top diameter, bottom diameter and height. Ask whether the dimensions refer to the open, assembled or folded product.
Keep the supplier's drawing or specification revision with the quote. A name such as “medium” is not a measurable specification.
Distinguish listed capacity from your fill requirement
Ask how the stated capacity was measured. Describe the amount you need to serve and the headspace required for closing or transport. Test the intended portion in a sample rather than assuming the printed capacity equals the usable serving volume.
Verify lids and accessories as a pair
Record the container SKU and lid SKU separately. Confirm whether the price includes both. Check the assembled fit, closure and handling with the food or drink you intend to serve. Similar rim dimensions or product names do not establish compatibility.
Reconcile pieces, inner packs and cartons
Confirm three quantities: pieces per inner pack, inner packs per carton and total pieces per carton. Use the same unit when comparing prices.
For example, 50 pieces per pack × 20 packs = 1,000 pieces per carton. An order for 12,000 pieces would use 12 such cartons. These figures illustrate the calculation; they are not a packing specification for any listed product.
Also check whether lids are packed separately and whether the word “set” means one container plus one lid.
Request outer-carton measurements and weight
Ask for carton length, width and height with units, gross weight and the number of cartons. Confirm whether the measurements include pallet packing if pallets are part of the shipment.
For dimensions supplied in centimetres, carton volume in cubic metres is length × width × height ÷ 1,000,000. Use the confirmed carton dimensions for shipment planning and obtain the carrier's chargeable measurement separately.
Keep one approval record
- Product and matching accessory SKUs.
- Material, dimensions, capacity and specification revision.
- Quantity per pack, per carton and per order.
- Carton measurements, gross weight and labeling.
- Artwork revision and sample approval, when relevant.
- Price unit and delivery scope.
Browse products to identify the items, then request a quote with the quantities you need. For a new project, begin with the quotation information checklist.
